GE Evolve LED Lights
I think it’s safe to say that everyone’s familiar with GE because, well, they make hundreds, if not (probably) thousands of products. GE Appliances & Lighting spans the globe as an industry leader in major appliances, lighting, systems and services for commercial, industrial and residential use. According to the company’s website, “Technology innovation and the company's ecomagination(SM) initiative enable GE Appliances & Lighting to aggressively bring to market products and solutions that help customers meet pressing environmental challenges”.
So to expand on the traditional GE light bulbs that we all know and love, today we’ll focus on just one of the company’s many new energy-saving lighting products.
The three products below are powered by the GE Evolve™ optic light engine, which optimizes distribution, reduces glare and offers high utilization.

Evolve provides energy savings, longer life, and improved lighting uniformity compared to traditional site lighting sources. The LED lighting also improves visibility and quality of lighting with higher color temperatures, as well as utilizing lower lumens through precisely delivered light thanks to advanced optical design. All three of the products covered below includes an estimated service life of more than 10 years (50,000-hour rated life), four times the recommended service interval of a standard high-intensity discharge lighting system, which reduces maintenance needs.
The GE Evolve™ R150 LED Cobrahead Luminaire provides improved horizontal and vertical uniformity, reduced glare and improved lighting control compared with traditional metal halide lighting systems and provides a 15-30 percent reduction in energy consumption. It also earned a ‘best in class’ award at last year’s Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Competition. According to president and CEO of GE Lighting Solutions David Elien, “These awards are an acknowledgement of the value we bring to the table in terms of innovation, understanding customer applications, testing, quality and performance.”
The GE Evolve™ LED Contemporary Domed Area Light rated life at 85 percent of initial lumens with an output of 4,900 lumens at 90 watts is a key feature of this fixture, as are its classic look combined with modern energy efficiency and light quality characteristics. The Domed Area Light features a high color temperature (5,600K or 4,100K), a 70+ color-rendering index, and a low-glare optical design enable low light trespass (a key feature for projects pursuing LEED certification or just trying to minimize impact of the built environment).
The next generation of outdoor area lighting, the GE Evolve™ LED Series Area Light, combines the latest in LED system electronics, thermal management, and mechanical and optical design, making the advantages of LED lighting a practical reality in parking lots and general lighting applications. At 97-214 watts, it delivers 30 percent energy savings compared with traditional 400 watt metal halide HID lighting systems.
